Eredivisie review: PSV cracker, Feyenoord firing

PSV Eindhoven played out a thrilling match at VVV-Venlo that ended in a 3-3 draw as the home side finished with 10 men

PSV struck the first blow when Ola Toivonen netted in the 11th minute before Dries Mertens doubled their advantage at De Koel.

But Ferry de Regt reduced VVV-Venlo's deficit early in the second half before Nwofor Uche restored parity. And on 54 minutes Maya Yoshida completed a terrific turnaround.

However, Wilfred Bouma scored with 14 minutes left on the clock to make it 3-3, while Marcel Meeuwis was handed his marching orders in the final moments.

Feyenoord maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign after they came from a goal down to record a 3-1 scalp of NAC Breda.

Robbert Schilder broke the deadlock in the seventh minute only for Otman Bakkal to equalise before the half-time interval.

Feyenoord upped their game in the second period as a goal from Karim El Ahmadi and a late penalty from John Guidetti wrapped up their away triumph.

FC Utrecht emerged as 3-2 victors in their meeting with Excelsior, who were reduced to ten men early in the second half.

Jason Oost put Excelsior in front on five minutes only for goals from Nana Asare and Ismo Vostermans to turn the game on its head.

Samuel Scheimann then received a second yellow card to toughen Excelsior's task before Asare extended FC Utrecht's lead. Joost Broerse's 69th minute goal proved only a consolation.

Heerenveen eased to a 3-0 victory over FC Groningen at Abe Lenstra Stadion with Bas Dost, Oussama Assaidi and Filip Djuricic all on target.
