The pick of the stories doing the rounds this morning comes in the Daily Telegraph, who claim that Chelsea have bid £27 million for Valencia's Juan Mata and adds: "The offer is expected to secure the 23 year-old from Valencia who are likely to accept the bid ahead of interest from Tottenham Hotspur."


The Daily Mail, which reported that Chelsea had seen a £22 million bid for Mata rejected earlier this week, also puts the value of the bid at £27 million but claims the offer includes a further £2 million in top-up payments. And the Blues will make another swoop for Luka Modric to make it a £60 million double deal.


Meanwhile, West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has mocked QPR's derisory £4 million bid for Scott Parker, in the Daily Mirror. Claiming it is the equivalent of the Hammers offering £12 million for Wayne Rooney.


In more positive news, the newspaper claims that Blackburn have agreed a £6 million fee for Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic and Sporting Lisbon playmaker Simon Vukcevic could follow on Friday.


The Daily Star claim that Manchester City-bound Samir Nasri wants to join Manchester United, despite closing in on a £22 million switch from Arsenal to Eastlands.


In an unusually quiet day for transfer gossip in The Sun, the newspaper claims that "Harry eyes deal for a lovely Lass" - that's Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp and Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra, who he hopes will be in his squad to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday.
