Modric edges closer to Chelsea

While Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp insists that Chelsea target Luka Modric will not play against Manchester United tonight because "his head's not in the right place", The Sun claim the midfielder has gone on strike to try and force through his transfer after Chelsea lodged an official £30 million bid.


The truth probably lies somewhere between the two, but it certainly looks as though want-away Modric is edging towards the White Hart Lane exit door... although there is no word from either club on this alleged "official £30 million bid".


23.40 Closedown: Juan Mata will be completed tomorrow, while we expect movement, or lack thereof, of Nasri and Modric. Sneijder? Don't ask.


23.39 The Daily Telegraph: "Liverpool have identified the Uruguayan centre-back Sebastian Coates as Kenny Dalglish’s sixth signing of the summer and are also considering a surprise move to bring Craig Bellamy back to Anfield."

15.34: Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan’s saying Inter haven’t been in for him. "I do not have any offer from Inter," he told AS. "I have two years on my contract and I cannot say what is going to happen. My idea is to be here and see out my contract, but it is hard to say if that is going to happen. No-one has told me I am for sale.”

14.10 - DONE DEAL New Rangers signing Carlos Bocanegra has been given the green-light to join up with the rest of his team-mates after obtaining a visa. The United States captain secured the necessary paperwork in Paris and is set to arrive at Murray Park on Tuesday.

08.15 Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is considering a shock £10 million move for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month, according to the Daily Star. The newspaper also reports that Chelsea have landed Juan Mata from Valencia in a £25 million deal.


08.00 The Daily Mirror report that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made bids of £15 million and £20 million respectively in for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila and Lille forward Eden Hazard. And is also going back for another crack at Everton defender Phil Jagielka, having already had two bids turned down.
