23.31 Daily Mail going a little OTT? They say Arsenal have failed in a loan bid for Real Madrid's Kaka. Real Madrid want him sold on a permanent basis which is obviously the reason why that won't happen...
23.23 Arsenal have reportedly made a €22 million bid for Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila. Now they are in the Champions League they can splash some cash and Spanish sources say that Real Madrid's Raul Albiol is also on the Wenger radar.
23.02 Sky Italia say that Fulham had made an official bid for Roma striker Marco Borriello, but the striker is keen to stay and fight for his place at the Giallorossi.
22.07 Birmingham boss Chris Hughton has stated his interest in bringing Newcastle striker Nile Ranger to St Andrews.
21.58 Jimmy Bullard has arrived at Ipswich for a medical after his contract at Hull was terminated.
20.35 Yossi Benayoun has commented on his Twitter account: "I thought I will know by now what my future will hold .I'm in talks with chelsea and we will make a decision very soon. I will tell you soon."
19.01 As is customary, Samir Nasri has taken to Twitter, and ignored correct spelling and punctuation too: "A big hello to all the @MCFC fans out there. I can't wait to get started at my new club! I want thanks Arsenal FC for everything this club has done for me I will always be grateful and I wish all the best to the club. And thank you Mr Wenger and all the staff you were amazing with me and I become the player I am today because of you."
18.49DONE DEAL Reading have signed 29-year-old central defender Kaspars Gorkss from QPR.
18.21 More drama - this time on Twitter and an update from Joey Barton on his move to QPR: "Going for a medical now, still no contract offer from NUFC.......think that just about makes my mind up. Don't want to leave Newcastle........I've made that clear but my hands are tied."
18.19 Vladimir Weiss has offered us a dramatic update on his future away from Manchester City, something which could be settled very soon: "Wigan and a Spanish club are immensely interested," he said. "I believe my future will be resolved within hours." Dynamo Kiev have also been credited with an interest.
18.05 Marca are saying Tottenham and Real Madrid have agreed a fee for Lassana Diarra, believed to be about €12 million. The player has already agreed personal terms, they claim.
17.58: Yet more news from Italy and a contender for most misleading sentence of the day from Lazio striker Mauro Zarate, who has told news agency Adnkronos: “I don’t want to leave Lazio, but it’s impossible to stay in these conditions. The future? We’ll have to see, as it’s up to the President to decide. Everything is fine with my teammates.”
17.32: Emanuele Giaccherini has arrived in Turin ahead of his €3 million move to Juventus from Cesena, reports in Italy claim.
17.26: Some quotes from Mata on Chelsea's website: "Valencia was a big club anyway but I have left to join a bigger club and it is all about the opportunity to win trophies and I have that here. The plan is that I can play on either flank or even in the middle playing in between the lines of midfield and attack."
17.14: Brett Emerton is due to be unveiled as a Sydney FC player on Thursday after his contract at Blackburn was cancelled.
17.04: DONE DEAL Another big deal has been completed as Chelsea confirm Juan Mata has signed from Valencia on a five-year deal.
16.57: More tittle tattle concerning a potential player move from Spain to Italy as Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Real Madrid's Fernando Gago is interesting Roma boss Luis Enrique - the man who seems to be fluttering his eyelids all over Europe at present.
16.41: AS claim Diego Forlan's Atletico career is winding down as negotiations with Inter Milan continue. The deal will be worth €5 million but personal terms are proving a sticking point at the moment.
16.25: Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta’s agent, Andrea D’Amico, has told Itasportspress.it: “He may leave. Spain or England? I don’t know and I won’t exclude any possibilities. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
16.20: A little more on Aquilani - the midfielder is apparently set to fly out tonight before undergoing a medical tomorrow and signing the deal. Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: “We’ve signed a player with great quality. He’s the right man for Milan. Our transfer market campaign has now come to a close.”
16.16: Ovacion in Uruguay says Nacional have accepted Liverpool's bid for centre-back Sebastian Coates.
16.12: Roma boss Luis Enrique says Daniele De Rossi - who has caught Roberto Mancini’s roving eye - is not going anywhere. “Daniele's contract expires next year and he is in negotiations to extend it,” Enrique said. “He wants to remain and the club wants to keep him and I can only speak highly of him. The two sides must find an agreement.”
16.02: After Michel Bastos made a public plea for the Lyon fans to forgive his flirtations with Juventus this summer, his agent has now said he could still join Juventus. Asked about the prospect of a deal, his agent told Sport Italia: “We have to wait until the end of the transfer window. There are negotiations which can end in five minutes or some that last for months."
15.50: Gazzetta is reporting that Alberto Aquilani's move to AC Milan is now a done deal. It will apparently be a loan deal but with a clause that says Milan have to buy him if he plays 25 games.
15.44: El Mundo Deportivo reports that both Dani Alves and his agent have dismissed rumours of a possible move to Anzhi.
15.26: DONE DEAL Samir Nasri has signed a four-year contract with Manchester City. Story here.
15.16: Rangers boss Ally McCoist has suggested he would be keen on signing Blackburn outcast El-Hadji Diouf after his loan spell at Ibrox last season. “I have to tell you, we certainly loved him up here,” he said. “He was great. I rule nothing out.”
15.03: Reports in France claim PSG have failed with a bid for Inter striker Diego Milito.
14.54: Stoke boss Tony Pulis claims there is “no question” his squad needs further strengthening before next week's transfer deadline, but he is still prepared to turn potential deals down in order to protect the club's wage structure. “I think everybody knows we have to bring players in,” he said. “[But] we’ve got a wage structure that we want to keep to. We miss out on deals, and we have to be big enough to accept that.”
14.42: De Graafschap striker Soufian El Hassnaoui has signed a new two-year contract.
14.27: Tuttosport says Juventus are keen on Chelsea winger Florent Malouda. The 31-year-old could, apparently, be sold for just €6 million.
14.11: DONE DEAL Liverpool have agreed a deal to send forward Daniel Pacheco on a season-long loan to Atletico Madrid.
14.06: DONE DEAL Spanish side Granada have announced the signing of former Benfica midfielder Hassan Yebda on a free transfer.
13.58: As well as Diego Forlan, Inter are apparently keen to sign Genoa duo Juraj Kucka and Rodrigo Palacio before the close of the transfer window.
13.51: Blackburn boss Steve Kean wants another striker: "We're still looking to strengthen at the top of the pitch, to get bodies in to complement the signing of David Goodwillie. I met a player on Monday, and I'm seeing another striker after being given permission from his club to speak with him. We're at it full blast to get bodies in, and to get them in quickly."
13.40: Inter are said to be keen on Lazio forward Mauro Zarate. Agent Giuseppe Bozzo told Sportitalia: "Now there is an expression of interest from Inter, we will make a decision calmly."
13.14: Arsene Wenger reckons the players already in the Arsenal squad can step up and help replace Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri: "When a big player leaves, there is an opportunity for someone to come in and show how good he is. I am long enough in the game to know that and to know my players are strong enough to deal with that. I believe we have always promoted players from inside. That is what we will continue to do. If we find the right players to strengthen our squad we will do it no matter the result on Wednesday night. We will be in the market to find one or two players to strengthen our squad, but we keep our basic values no matter what happens with the promotion of internal young players.”

12.55: Lille have said Eden Hazard isn’t for sale, but a source close to the player is quoted as telling Goal.com that the deal is not impossible: “Eden has said all along that he won’t leave until next year unless the right opportunity comes along. It would need to be a club who can match his ambitions but they are running out of time to get him.”
12.43: Alberto Aquilani's agent, Franco Zavaglia, has told Gazzetta.it: “I will remain here, in Liverpool, until I complete the transfer in favour of AC Milan. Aquilani has chosen and he wants AC Milan. We hope an agreement will be reached very soon.”
12.30: Skysports.com expects Ipswich to sign former Reading defender Ibrahima Sonko on a free transfer.

11.59: Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed he would be interested in signing Joe Cole. “We haven't made any enquiries about him but I wouldn't sit here and say I wouldn't have him at the club because if I did I'd be lying,” he said. “I do like him.”
11.52: DONE DEAL Dundee United have confirmed the signing of striker Lauri Dalla Valle on loan from Fulham until January.
11.48: Freiburg striker Papiss Demba Cisse has announced his intention to leave the club within seven days amid interest from England and Russia. Freiburg are demanding €15 million and director of sport Dirk Dufner has confirmed they will study the “three offers on the table”.
11.37: BREAKING NEWS Atletico Madrid have given Diego Forlan permission to talk to Inter Milan.
11.30: The Lancashire Telegraph says Burnley are hopeful of signing West Ham winger Junior Stanislas and one other player this week.
11.11: DONE DEAL Hamburg have signed Chelsea defender Slobodan Rajkovic on a four-year deal. He couldn't get a work permit at Stamford Bridge so Frank Arnesen has once again swoooped.
11.05: Interesting line from The Independent on Liverpool’s pursuit of Sebastian Coates: "For a fee of less than half the price of Phil Jones the Merseysiders have bagged themselves twice the player.”
10.57: The Daily Mirror says Birmingham are desperate to offload £50k-a-week striker Nikola Zigic before the close of the transfer window but, following a summer groin operation, Espanyol and Real Betis will only sign him if he proves his fitness.
10.48: Sky Sports News is camping outside the Etihad Stadium and brings us some grainy footage of Samir Nasri getting in a car. No sign of Sir Alex lurking in any bushes ahead of the proposed deal hijack.
10.44: Sochaux have accused Newcastle of tapping up striker Modibo Maiga, but the Mali international remains adamant they should allow him to go. He told L’Equipe: I want it to be done with Newcastle. I want to leave - it is necessary that the president agrees to negotiate. I met everybody. They want me and it is not any club. England is a dream. I want to go."
10.38: @barcastuff tweets a statement from the Barca official website: "Barcelona confirm they gave Santos the authorization to loan forward Keirrison (22) to Cruzeiro until 31 December 2011"
10.28: Juventus are said to be looking to sign Zenit St Petersburg centre-back Bruno Alves.
10.14: Arsene Wenger, asked if City’s pursuit of Samir Nasri amounted to tapping up, said: "Who knows?"
09.53: Rory Smith of the Daily Telegraph tweets the following statement from Sebastian Coates: "I'd prefer #LFC to #MCFC, but would need to see both offers. But having the help of Luis Suarez would be very important. The #LFC offer ticks all boxes, so fair to say it's a done deal...Luis' success is important for me as another Urgyn joining."
09.42: Roma have been linked with a surprise move for Alberto Aquilani - who is seemingly bound for AC Milan - but it appears there is no truth to it. Sporting director Walter Sabatini told Radio Mana Mana: “These voices are unfounded. I don’t want to give false hope to people.”
09.33: The Manchester Evening News thinks Samir Nasri will be City’s final signing of the transfer window: “Mancini hinted at the weekend that the Blues may yet move for another midfielder but M.E.N. Sport understands that - unless the situation changes quickly - Nasri will be the final buy of this transfer window.”
09.15: The Newcastle Evening Chronicle on Alan Pardew’s search for a left-back: “United are still in with a shout of signing PSV Eindhoven star Erik Pieters, with the player making it clear to his colleagues he is keen for a move to Tyneside. The Magpies have also been linked with Inter Milan’s Davide Santon, but the Chronicle understands that other targets are being considered first.”
09.10: Nacional vice-president Hector Olmes expects Uruguay centre-back Sebastian Coates to complete a move to Anfield: "The offer is very good. Surely Coates will go to Liverpool."

08.51: Amid reported interested from Porto and Tottenham, Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has told Radio Gaucha of Brazil striker Leandro Damiao: “We want him to stay, but I do not want to make a firm statement about this."
08.48: Sports Hochi believes FC Augsburg have made an approach for Nagoya Grampus midfielder Mu Kanazaki.
08.39: QPR have been linked with plenty of England internationals, but Neil Warnock doesn’t sound massively optimistic about any of them joining. “I'd love Joe Cole and Peter Crouch but I don't think they'll be at QPR,” he said. “I've only made one enquiry for Scott Parker and haven't been in since. We have a number of options and I'm optimistic about them.”
08.32: ...and here's the full round-up. The most attention-grabbing rumour is the Daily Mail's claim Manchester United could hijack City's bid for Samir Nasri, but that sounds a little unlikely.
